London man admits urging accomplice to assault sleeping woman

A 52-year-old man from Enfield in north London, Darren Conway, has pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court to nine counts of assisting or encouraging an offence, one count of voyeurism and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image. On several occasions he instructed another man to remove a sleeping woman's clothing and sexually assault her.

Conway was a member of an online forum where offenders across the country shared videos of sexual offending and domestic abuse. Police uncovered the group in October 2025 and later arrested Conway after identifying him as a participant in the group chat.

A search of his personal devices revealed that Conway had encouraged other members of the group to carry out sexual offences and had posted sexual images and videos. Investigators are continuing efforts to identify victims appearing in footage found on his devices. While much of the offending is believed to have taken place in the UK, officers say some victims may be based overseas.

Response from police and prosecutors

Metropolitan Police Commander Andy Day said drug-facilitated sexual offending can have "lasting and devastating impacts on its victims" and described Conway's actions as "shocking". He said Conway had put women at serious risk of harm in their own homes by encouraging others to offend against victims who were unconscious, asleep or otherwise stupefied, purely for his own sexual gratification.

Tracy Easton, chief crown prosecutor for CPS London South, said Conway had committed vile acts against women in places where they should have felt safe, and that prosecutors were determined to work with police to bring offenders to justice. She expressed hope that the guilty plea would encourage other potential victims to come forward.

Conway is due to be sentenced at the same court on Friday 30 October.
