California authorities arrested 10 people accused of facilitating a sex-trafficking operation that exploited about 51 underage girls and women, according to a Wednesday news release. The operation targeted the Figueroa corridor in Los Angeles. Prosecutors said members of the Hoover gang recruited minors and women, some runaways or foster kids, through false promises or violence from February 2021 to June 2026.

Among the charges, 23-year-old Cameron Lockett allegedly beat a victim and bit off part of her cheek in November 2024, then sent her to a hospital and pressured her to lie to police. In July 2025, Caleed Mouton, 26, arranged an abortion for an underage victim and ordered her to engage in sex work the same day. Mukeshkumar Ahir, 45, manager of Stadium Inn & Spas, allegedly pocketed over $64,000 from the operation by reserving rooms.

“We hope today’s arrests break the cycle of crime and abuse in one of LA’s most notorious human-trafficking corridors,” said Bill Essayli, first assistant US attorney. Police Chief Jim McDonnell said they are dismantling criminal enterprises profiting from human trafficking. If convicted, the defendants face 15 years to life in prison.

The approximately 4-mile corridor has been a frequent target for enforcement. Last year, 11 other Hoover affiliates were charged, with trial set for next March. Budget cuts in 2021 and the repeal of a loitering law hampered the LAPD’s ability to combat trafficking.
