The party "Latvia First" (LPV) is prepared to approach the "United List" (Apvienotais saraksts, AS) with a proposal for cooperation in forming the new government. This was stated by Ainārs Šlesers, LPV's nominated candidate for prime minister, in an interview with Latvian Television.

Šlesers said his party sees room to find common ground with the United List in the upcoming talks on building a governing coalition. He did not elaborate publicly on specific terms of negotiation or the details of a possible cooperation model.

Context

The statement comes as Latvia is going through a process of forming a new government. Negotiations between parties over possible coalitions are a routine part of the parliamentary system once the question of renewing or replacing the cabinet of ministers becomes relevant.

LPV's offer to the United List is one of several public signals parties are sending each other during this process, ahead of formal coalition talks being concluded. Such statements often indicate early positioning and the potential balance of power in the next government.

Šlesers laid out his party's stance directly on the television programme, stressing readiness for cooperation, but without naming a specific timeline or format in which such an offer would be formally extended to the United List.

It remains unknown how the United List will respond to LPV's signal, or whether the offer will be accepted in the further government-formation negotiations.
