More than 200 employees of Latvian Public Media (LSM) have appealed to the board to keep the historic brands Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) and Latvijas Radio (LR) visible in public spaces – on buildings, microphones, and elsewhere. The employees emphasize that these brands are a vital part of the public broadcaster’s identity and that their retention fosters trust and recognition.

The LSM board, in response, states that the new unified brand will not replace the contributions of LTV and LR but will affirm that LSM is a single organization with a shared mission. The board explains that the changes are part of a long-term strategy to strengthen the position of public media as a cohesive entity.

The debate over the future of the brands continues, with employees hoping their appeal will be considered to preserve historical heritage while moving toward a more modern, unified media landscape.
