LSM Broadcast Discusses airBaltic's Chapter 11 Restructuring in the US
A Latvian Television program aired on September 16 brought together officials, company leaders, a union representative and independent experts to discuss the progress of airBaltic's restructuring under the US Chapter 11 bankruptcy process.
On September 16, a live discussion program addressed the ongoing restructuring of national carrier airBaltic, which is proceeding through the United States court system under Chapter 11 of the US bankruptcy code.
The panel brought together voices from government, company leadership, organized labor, and independent financial and legal expertise. Representing the state was Transport Minister Rihards Kozlovskis of the New Unity party. airBaltic itself was represented by two of its top officials — board member Vitolds Jakovļevs and supervisory council chairman Andrejs Martinovs — who offered perspective from inside the company on how the process is unfolding.
Employee interests were represented by Dace Kavasa, chairwoman of the board of the Latvian Aviation Trade Union. The discussion also included independent expert voices: Raitis Logins, managing partner at financial consultancy Grant Thornton, and sworn attorney Jānis Ešenvalds, who specializes in insolvency and corporate restructuring cases. Their participation allowed the program to provide professional assessment of how the restructuring is progressing and what consequences it may carry.
