What the guests discussed

The weekly discussion programme «Ну и неделя!» ("And What a Week!"), produced by the Russian-language section of Latvian broadcaster LSM, brought together journalist Roman Shmelev, film director Viesturs Kairišs and political scientist Roman Gagunov to review topics of recent public interest.

Among the subjects raised was the question of how safe it currently is to plan new trips to Nepal. The panel also touched on education, discussing why children's reading skills appear to have declined recently.

Particular attention was paid to the story of basketball player Uljana Semjonova, which the participants described as unique.

The programme's title and description also listed several further topics — an Oscar award submission, a so-called "crisis bag" meant to last 72 hours, and an incident involving a dog attack. No further details on these items were provided in the announcement.

«Ну и неделя!» is a regular weekly format from LSM's Russian-language newsroom, in which journalists and invited guests review and comment on the past week's events across politics, culture and society.
