The board and employees of Latvian Public Media (LSM) have committed to continued discussions regarding the preservation of the historic brands – Latvijas Radio and Latvijas Televīzija. A meeting took place on July 1 between LSM Board Chair Baiba Zūzena and employees, who had previously published an open letter urging the retention of these beloved names alongside the new LSM brand.

During the meeting, employees raised questions about the board's readiness to admit potential mistakes and take responsibility, as well as the future of the historic brands. For now, the outcome remains unclear, and both sides have agreed to continue searching for a compromise solution.

The debate over branding policy began after the LSM board announced the introduction of a unified brand, which prompted pushback from employees. They emphasize that Latvijas Radio and Latvijas Televīzija are historic names that have earned public trust and recognition.

The board has indicated it is open to dialogue and will consider the employees' arguments. However, no concrete decisions have been made yet, and the process will continue with further discussions in the coming weeks.
