Latvian TV launches pre-election debate series, first stop Latgale

Latvia's public broadcaster, LSM Latvian Television, has launched a new pre-election program series called "Choose Latvia's Future!" as the country prepares for the 15th Saeima parliamentary elections scheduled for October.

As part of the series, debates are planned to be held in all five of Latvia's electoral districts — Latgale, Zemgale, Riga, Kurzeme and Vidzeme. Each region will host its own debate, giving voters a chance to learn about issues relevant to their specific area as well as the positions of parties and candidates running there.

The first debate in the series takes place in Latgale, a region traditionally considered one of the more politically significant electoral districts in the country.

The program series forms part of the broadcaster's broader coverage of the upcoming elections, allowing voters to follow political discussions live ahead of the decisive vote.
