LTV1 Discontinues 'Night News', Content Moves to Digital Platforms
Tonight marks the last broadcast of 'Nakts ziņas' on LTV1, as LSM shifts its content strategy toward digital platforms.

Latvian Television (LTV) News Service is airing the final episode of its long-running program "Nakts ziņas" (Night News) on LTV1 tonight. According to an LTV statement, the decision follows a broader strategy by Latvian Public Broadcasting (LSM) to adapt to changing viewer habits, redirecting content to digital platforms and discontinuing the format.
The program did not have a fixed broadcast time – it aired at a different hour each evening – but it still cultivated a loyal and reliable audience. Viewers knew that on weekday nights, LTV1's "Nakts ziņas" would deliver a summary of the day's key events and the latest updates, accessible simply by turning on the TV or computer.
LTV News Service expressed its deepest gratitude to the team that has kept the program on air for years and thanked viewers for their loyalty.
"Nakts ziņas" was one of LTV's most recognizable news formats, offering a concise nightly recap. After this final broadcast, LTV will continue to develop news content for digital environments, including LSM.lv and other platforms.
