University of Latvia professor and political scientist Jānis Ikstens, commenting on the recent elections, has said that this moment has become a finest hour for politician Andris Kulbergs of the "Apvienotais saraksts" party.

According to Ikstens, voters have shown Kulbergs considerable trust, giving him, in the professor's words, a substantial advance of confidence. This suggests that voters were willing to extend credit to the politician in advance, expecting him to justify that trust through his future work.

A political scientist's assessment

Ikstens' assessment indicates that the election results were particularly successful for Kulbergs and the "Apvienotais saraksts" he represents. Political scientists following the course and outcome of elections often describe such striking success in a politician's career as a "finest hour" — a decisive and successful turning point.

Jānis Ikstens is a well-known political scientist in Latvia who regularly comments on current political developments in the country, including election results and the performance of parties and individual politicians within them.

It is not yet known how Kulbergs and "Apvienotais saraksts" plan to make use of the voter support they have gained going forward, but the political scientist's comments suggest that concrete results will now be expected of them to justify the trust they received.
