Renovated Section of Rēzekne Highway to Open in Ludza
On Wednesday, July 1, the renovated section of the Rēzekne Highway (A12) in Ludza will be officially opened, featuring road surface improvements, a roundabout upgrade, and new pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

Opening Ceremony
On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM, the renovated section of the Rēzekne Highway (A12) will be inaugurated near the roundabout with the Kārsava-Ludza-Ezernieki road (P49) in Ludza. The event will be attended by Transport Minister Rihards Kozlovskis, LVC Chairman Mārtiņš Lazdovskis, representatives of construction company SIA "VIA", Ludza Municipality Council Chairman Edgars Mekšs, as well as representatives from the supervision and design companies ACM projekts and Ceļuprojekts.
Scope of Work
The project involved a complete reconstruction of the road surface, including replacement of weak subgrade soils. From Krāslavas Street to the roundabout, the surface was renewed, and three layers of asphalt concrete were laid along the entire section. The roundabout was equipped with lighting and a 2.5-meter-wide combined pedestrian and bicycle path. Additionally, 160 meters of infrastructure were built from the railway crossing to Krāslavas Street, also serving the EuroVelo 11 European route. Pedestrian crossings were installed at Krāslavas Street and the roundabout.
Drainage and Funding
Water drainage was improved by reconstructing culverts, cleaning ditches, and installing a drainage system. The work was carried out by SIA "VIA" at a contract price of €6.843 million (incl. VAT), funded from the state budget. Construction supervision was provided by ACM projekts, and the design was developed by AS Ceļuprojekts.
