Latvia's National Armed Forces (NAF) have issued a warning about a possible threat to airspace over the Ludza region, near the country's eastern border. Residents in the area were alerted through the mobile network warning system, which sends notifications directly to phones in the affected region.

In response to the potential threat, fighter jets belonging to NATO allies were scrambled into the air. The National Armed Forces have not yet released further details about the nature or source of the threat.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation in the Ludza region, which borders Russia and Belarus and has in recent years seen repeated reports of possible airspace violations in the border area.
