Over the past 24 hours, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received 36 calls, including three for fires, 26 for rescue operations, and seven false alarms.

At 9:46 PM on Tuesday, rescuers were dispatched to Ņukši Parish in Ludza district, where a person on a raft had been blown approximately 40 meters from the shore of a lake and could not return on their own. Using a boat, VUGD personnel brought the individual to shore. Another person who had been on the same raft had already reached the shore before the rescuers arrived. The operation was completed within an hour.

Earlier, around 5:30 PM, VUGD received a call to Nereta in Aizkraukle district, where an electric wire was burning along the facade of a two-story residential building, covering an area of 0.6 square meters. Before firefighters arrived, six people voluntarily evacuated from the building.

During the same 24-hour period, firefighters also responded to incidents involving a gas heater on a terrace and a trash container fire.
