Lukashenko apologizes to Zelensky, admits Belarus is militarily vulnerable
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko apologized to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for previous harsh remarks and stated that drawing Belarus into the war is unacceptable as the country is militarily very vulnerable.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has apologized to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his earlier harsh comments, acknowledging he may have 'gone overboard'. In an interview with Al Arabiya, Lukashenko said both he and Russian President Vladimir Putin consider dragging Belarus into the Russia-Ukraine war 'absolutely unacceptable', as it would cause more harm than good.
Lukashenko admitted Belarus is militarily vulnerable, with all critical infrastructure exposed to Ukrainian forces. He insisted Ukraine has 'absolutely nothing' to fear from Belarus and urged Kyiv to 'calm down' and stop provoking Belarusians.
The apology followed statements by Ukrainian officials about potential targets in Belarus. Lukashenko also expressed pity for Zelensky, who is fighting a war, and said the Ukrainian military does not want a conflict with Belarus.
