Lukashenko meets Xi in Beijing: China and Belarus pledge deeper ties
Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. Both sides said their relations are at the best period in history and vowed to mobilize resources for the Belt and Road Initiative.

According to a Chinese government statement, the relations between China and Belarus "have withstood the test of international problems" and "are entering the most favorable period in history." During the meeting, Xi urged Lukashenko to mobilize resources across all sectors to advance the Belt and Road trade initiative and enrich practical cooperation.
This is Lukashenko's first meeting with Xi since August 2025. Last week, Lukashenko met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Lukashenko allowed Russia to use Belarusian territory for the invasion of Ukraine in 2022 but has denied plans to directly engage in Russia's war against Ukraine.
Minsk claims that Russia's newest medium-range ballistic missile, "Oreshnik," capable of carrying nuclear warheads, has been deployed in Belarus. China has positioned itself as neutral in the Russia-Ukraine war but has effectively supported Moscow.
