Luke Littler and Gerwyn Price set for World Matchplay final
Luke Littler continues his dominant run at the World Matchplay, setting up a final against Gerwyn Price. The teenager has won their last nine meetings and is aiming for a second consecutive title.
Luke Littler has reached the final of the World Matchplay with an impressive average of over 109 points across all four matches in this year's tournament. He is looking to become only the third player to win the Matchplay back-to-back, joining Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen.
Littler's success in longer-format matches continues, with 28 consecutive wins in games featuring 20 or more legs. His last defeat in such a match came in the 2024 World Championship final against Luke Humphries. This underlines the challenge facing Gerwyn Price, who will play in his second Matchplay final on Sunday.
The pair share a rivalry, with Price's on-stage antics often provoking Littler to respond in kind, but Littler denies that Price can get "under his skin." Speaking to Sky Sports, Littler said: "Me and Gez always have great games. Gez will want to try and get me into a roaring battle. As long as I can get into the lead that will be the thing."
Earlier this week, Price commented that some players "make it too easy" for Littler. However, Littler has won the last nine encounters between the two, with Price's last victory coming in their first meeting in 2026. The Welshman has never beaten Littler in a match with more than 15 legs, so he will need to reach new heights in the best-of-35 final.
