Lviv mayor Sadovyi finds suspected listening device — this time in his car

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi has announced that a device believed to be intended for eavesdropping was discovered in his car. He shared a video showing several circuit boards fitted with wires and an antenna.

According to Sadovyi, the device also contains a SIM card along with various other components. He said he has no idea who might have placed it there. The mayor stated that if the device was installed legally, under a court order, by Ukrainian authorities, those responsible are welcome to come and retrieve it. If it belongs to no one but could still be useful for some investigation, law enforcement agencies are free to examine it. Sadovyi said he would inform the heads of the relevant services about the find.

A similar case a year ago

The mayor recalled that a comparable device had been found in his office a year earlier. At the time, he contacted law enforcement but says he never received a clear response. Commenting on the new discovery, Sadovyi remarked wryly that if the device had been placed there legally, it could simply be installed again.

Background

On 17 September 2025, Sadovyi had already reported that specialists found an eavesdropping device in one of the work phones in his office. He later explained that the discovery came after his office had been visited by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk, and several foreign guests.
