Latvijas valsts meži (LVM) has reported a cybersecurity incident affecting its information technology systems. Since the incident was detected, external systems including “LVM GEO”, the map service system, and the hunting app “Mednis” have been shut down as a precaution. Access has also been blocked to several internal systems that facilitate information exchange with service providers and clients.

Māris Kuzmins, LVM Director of IT Infrastructure and Development, stated that the company's IT team is working in emergency mode in close cooperation with the cybersecurity incident response institution Cert.lv and other relevant state security authorities. “The company, together with experts, continues the work that started during the holidays to eliminate the consequences of the cybersecurity incident and reduce the likelihood of similar situations in the future. The IT environment required for the development of the election system was separate from the rest of the IT infrastructure,” Kuzmins emphasized.

Previously, the Cabinet of Ministers decided at the end of April to transfer the development of the election system to state-owned or partially state-owned companies LMT, Tet, and LVM, terminating the contract with the platform developer “RIX Technologies”. LVM's turnover in 2025 reached €604.585 million (up 3.2% year-on-year), while profit increased by 37.7% to €206.73 million. The company, registered in 1999, manages state-owned forest lands. Its sole owner is the state, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture.
