On Saturday, September 5, several sections of state roads in the Latgale region will be temporarily closed or have restricted traffic. The reason is the ongoing "Namejs 2026" national defense exercise, which requires adjustments to traffic arrangements on the affected road sections.

The restrictions were announced by the state joint-stock company Latvian State Roads (LVC), which is responsible for maintaining and managing the country's state road network.

Reason for the restrictions

The "Namejs" exercise is a recurring national defense event aimed at testing readiness to respond to various crisis situations. Such exercises often involve both military and civilian infrastructure, including roads, to ensure the necessary movement of equipment and personnel.

LVC is urging drivers who plan to travel on Latgale's state roads on Saturday to take the possible traffic restrictions into account and plan their routes in advance to avoid inconvenience.

Specific information about which road sections will be closed or restricted, as well as the duration of the restrictions, can be found in LVC's official announcements.
