Madona Motocross Event Attracts Around 7,000 Spectators, Nearly One in Five from Abroad
The World Championship round in sidecar motocross and quad class in Madona was attended by approximately 7,000 people, with 18–20% being foreign visitors, according to LMT mobility data.

This year, the World Championship round in sidecar motocross and quad class in Madona was analyzed for the first time using LMT’s mobility data analytics solution “Plūsma”. The anonymized data, combined with organizer information, provides a more complete picture of attendance, visitor flow, and stay patterns.
According to LMT data, total attendance was about 7,000. On the main race day, July 26, 6,570 people visited the “Smeceres sila” motocross track, while on Saturday, July 25, 2,530 visitors were recorded. These numbers cannot be summed as some spectators attended both days. On Sunday, the average stay was six hours and five minutes, with foreign visitors accounting for 18.3% of total attendees. On Saturday, the figures were five hours and 18 minutes and 20.2%, respectively.
Foreign guests came not only from neighboring countries but also from France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, and other nations. On both days, the largest number of foreign visitors came from Estonia.
Madona Municipality Council Chairman Agris Lungevičs noted that over 6,500 visitors on the main day is an impressive figure not just for Madona but for any regional sports event. He emphasized that nearly every fifth visitor was from abroad, confirming that large-scale sports events boost the municipality’s economy and international recognition. The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), athletes, and team representatives also praised the high level of organization.
Aigars Runčis, Director of LMT Business Growth Service, said that ticket data only shows how many tickets were sold, while mobility analytics reveals when visitors arrive, how long they stay, and where they come from. This information helps organizers and the municipality make more informed, data-driven decisions in the future.
In cooperation with LMT’s regional business client center “Rēzekne”, mobile and internet coverage at the venue was improved by deploying a portable base station. Renārs Omutovs, Head of LMT’s Small and Medium Enterprise Service Department, stressed that regional business centers are crucial for quickly providing necessary solutions.
LMT’s “Plūsma” service provides reliable data for traffic, public services, infrastructure, tourism, and event planning. The data is fully anonymized and meets the highest international security standards, with LMT being the only holder of the ISO/IEC 27559:2022 certificate in Latvia.
