Spanish football giants Real Madrid are keeping their first-choice goalkeeper. According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Thibaut Courtois agreed to a new contract with the club a year ago. The deal was signed last summer and runs until June 2027 with unchanged terms.

Courtois, 34, joined Real Madrid in 2018 from English Premier League side Chelsea. Since then, he has won several major trophies: three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups. Internationally, he helped the club win two UEFA Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups, one FIFA Club World Cup, and one FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

Courtois began his professional career at Belgian club Genk. From 2011 to 2018, he was with Chelsea, spending three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid. With these clubs, he has won the Belgian league, two English Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Europa League with Atletico.

For the Belgian national team, Courtois has 115 caps. At the 2018 World Cup, he helped Belgium finish third and was awarded the Golden Glove as the tournament's best goalkeeper.

After the summer, Real Madrid plans to continue negotiations with Courtois for a further contract extension.
