Magone Liedeskalna Reveals How She Earns Money: Mushroom Picking Is Her Summer Job
Show participant and poet Magone Liedeskalna has responded to critics who question how she can afford travel and leisure, explaining that mushroom picking is her main summer job, providing income until the frosts.

Latvian show participant and poet Magone Liedeskalna has revealed how she earns money to travel and relax with her children, addressing critics who wonder how she can afford such a lifestyle without a conventional job. In an interview on the program “Slavenības brīvsolī,” she said many people write to her, both curious and critical, asking how she manages to travel and take her children along if she doesn't work.
“People write to me and wonder – how is it that Magone doesn't work anywhere, doesn't do any job, yet can travel, and that's expensive, and with children too?” she recounted. Liedeskalna clarified that she does not have a traditional job, but her summer occupation is picking mushrooms. “You see – I don't work, yes! But this is my main summer job!” she said, showing a box full of chanterelles. She added that the mushroom season has started and will continue until the frost. “God gave rain so there would be fewer mushroom pickers in the forest, and something would be left for me,” she said with a smile.
Once the summer mushroom season ends, Liedeskalna will return to her usual activities – poetry readings. She noted that in autumn, she can be met at various events, concerts, and private poetry readings. “I haven't disappeared, I'm just plowing my own furrow little by little. I'm still here in Sinole, I haven't moved away,” the participant of the show “Slavenības. Bez filtra” revealed.
