Mike James Returns Unexpectedly to Help Monaco Regain French Basketball Crown
Mike James made a surprise return to action after a prolonged absence, helping Monaco defeat Paris 101-92 in Game 5 to win the French basketball championship series 3-2.

Monaco has reclaimed the French Pro A league title, defeating Paris 101-92 in the decisive fifth game on the road, winning the series 3-2. The victory came with a surprising twist: Mike James, Monaco's star guard, played for the first time since the team's EuroLeague quarterfinal exit, appearing in his 18th league game this season. In 23.5 minutes, James contributed 7 points and 7 assists. His return was crucial because Monaco was without French international Matthew Strazel, who was suspended for the final game after calling a referee a cheat in Game 3. The series began with Paris winning 95-91, then Monaco leveled with a 102-90 victory. Paris took a 2-1 lead with an 88-77 win at home, but Monaco forced a decider with a 96-84 win in Game 4. In the final game, Monaco led 51-42 at halftime but fell behind 73-81 late in the third quarter. However, they opened the fourth quarter with a 12-0 run and later added a 9-0 spurt to secure the comeback. Jaron Blossomgame led Monaco with 27 points, John Bejaren added 18 points and 9 rebounds, and Elie Okobo recorded 12 points and 15 assists. This is Monaco's third French title, adding to their 2023 and 2024 championships.
