French President Emmanuel Macron revealed in an interview with France 2 that US President Donald Trump revised his initial stance on the war in Ukraine after the G7 summit. According to Macron, Trump arrived thinking Ukraine would lose, but during the summit he changed his mind, noting that Russia was not fulfilling its commitments.

The G7 summit took place in Évian, and in their joint statement, the leaders expressed readiness to consider granting Ukraine licenses to produce interceptor missiles directly on Ukrainian territory.

After the summit, Trump mentioned having “very good talks” with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating that both want to end the war but do not know how. He also indicated a possible reinstatement of sanctions on Russian oil after the US exemption imposed due to high global energy prices caused by the war with Iran.
