Franco-Indian Year of Innovation

The two leaders visited the Indian pavilion at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, where they engaged with entrepreneurs, exhibitors, and attendees. The event was part of the Franco-Indian Year of Innovation, launched in Mumbai in February 2026 to foster collaboration in research, technology, and entrepreneurship.

VivaTech is one of Europe’s premier technology conferences. This year, India has a particularly strong presence, with companies representing software, manufacturing, biotechnology, and space technology. The visit drew attention to India’s growing role in the global startup ecosystem and the joint efforts of France and India to strengthen ties in artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and advanced technologies.

Focus on Practical AI

The 2026 edition of VivaTech focuses on the practical deployment of artificial intelligence, reflecting an industry-wide pivot from theoretical expectations to real-world applications. According to organizers, businesses are increasingly using AI to enhance productivity, create new services, and forge international partnerships.

Bharat Innovates 2026

Earlier in the week, Macron and Modi inaugurated Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, a showcase for emerging Indian technology companies. These events together highlight innovation as a cornerstone of Franco-Indian economic cooperation.
