Production company Particle6 Group has launched an AI-generated 'actress' named Tilly Norwood and made it available for up to 75 simultaneous press interviews. However, the rollout has been rocky, with Norwood making noticeable mistakes across multiple conversations.

In one interview posted online featuring broadcaster Piers Morgan and actor Tom Conti, Norwood unexpectedly began speaking Chinese. During the conversation, Conti asked whether the other actors in Norwood's film were also AI-generated. Norwood initially gave a vague answer, saying human writers, editors, and directors were involved. When Conti pressed further, asking directly whether the other actors on screen were real people or computer-generated, Norwood explained that in the film 'Misaligned,' all the actors are 'digital twins' like itself, describing it as a hybrid production. Mid-sentence, Norwood suddenly stopped and spoke in Chinese for more than 10 seconds.

When Morgan asked why this happened, the AI apologized, saying it had 'a little hiccup' and did not intend to speak Chinese or impersonate Morgan, adding that 'sometimes my wires get a bit crossed.'

Typically, AI systems that mimic human behavior can be convincing enough that people forget they're interacting with a machine, which carries its own risks. Tilly Norwood's case is different — its mistakes are so obvious that they seem almost deliberate. It's possible Particle6 Group anticipated that people would talk about Norwood more if they were mocking it, reducing the pressure for audiences to take its upcoming film seriously.
