Manchester United are set to confirm Eva Olid as the new manager of their women's team. The former Hearts boss is expected to meet the squad on Wednesday as the club finalises her appointment.

The 40-year-old Spaniard steps into a role that became vacant after Marc Skinner exited by mutual consent on Monday, just a month before the Women's Super League campaign begins. Skinner's departure came as a surprise, but United appear to have moved quickly to secure Olid.

Olid, who left Hearts this summer, arrives with a strong track record. In her final season with the Scottish club, she guided them to their first-ever SWPL title. She had initially joined Hearts in 2021 and later signed an extension through the summer of 2026, with an option for a further year. However, in April, the club announced that she would leave at the end of the season by mutual agreement.

During her tenure, Olid also led Hearts to their first domestic final, although they were beaten by Rangers in the 2024 Scottish Cup. In the league, the Edinburgh side finished fourth in back-to-back seasons before slipping to fifth in 2024-25. Yet they rebounded strongly last term, finishing two points clear of Rangers to secure the club's first major silverware.
