Manchester United's planned signing of Brazilian midfielder Ederson collapses
Manchester United's €40 million deal for Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta fell through after he failed a medical due to an injury.

Manchester United had planned to sign Brazilian international midfielder Ederson from Italian Serie A club Atalanta this summer. The clubs had agreed on a €40 million transfer on June 2, but the move collapsed after Ederson was found to have an injury during his medical examination in Manchester.
Ederson was recently called up to Brazil's World Cup squad as a replacement for his injured teammate Wesley. He made two appearances in the tournament, including the round of 16 match against Norway, where Brazil lost 1-2. Ederson played just under 20 minutes.
At Atalanta, Ederson has spent four seasons, scoring 16 goals in 180 appearances. Following the failed medical, it is possible he will remain with the Italian club.
Meanwhile, United have already agreed to sign another Brazilian midfielder, Andrey Santos, from Chelsea for €58.7 million.
