22-year-old Alejandro Balde was left out of Barcelona's squad for the team's opening match of the season, a 5:0 win over Elche. Head coach Hansi Flick explained that the decision was made to give the defender a chance to step back from the transfer speculation surrounding him.

Reports indicate that Balde wants clear guarantees of regular playing time, as he faces competition for his spot from Joao Cancelo and Xavi Espart. Without such assurances, the defender could consider leaving Barcelona.

United's interest

Manchester United are closely following the situation around the Spanish defender and are ready to discuss a potential move. The English club would like to bring Balde in on a season-long loan, with the option to sign him permanently afterward.

Barcelona have reportedly valued Balde at between 30 and 40 million euros.

United's interest in strengthening the left-back position is also driven by the demanding schedule of the new season. The club wants cover in case of fitness issues for Luke Shaw. Although the 31-year-old started every Premier League match last season, he has previously struggled with serious injuries.
