Marko Regža stays on bench as Hradec Králové wins in Norway; Maccabi Tel Aviv crushes Sheriff

Czech club Hradec Králové defeated Tromsø 1-0 away beyond the Arctic Circle, while Latvian striker Marko Regža remained an unused substitute. Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv secured a dominant 5-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol in Transnistria.

In the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round, Czech side Hradec Králové traveled to Norway on July 30 and beat Tromsø 1-0 far above the Arctic Circle. The decisive goal was scored late in the game by Miks van Būrens. Latvian international forward Marko Regža was an unused substitute and did not feature on the pitch.

Meanwhile, in Tiraspol, the capital of the breakaway Transnistrian region of Moldova, Maccabi Tel Aviv thrashed Sheriff Tiraspol 5-0. The Israeli club dominated the match, taking a huge step towards the next round.

Other first-leg results from July 23 include: Hammarby – Anderlecht (1-1), Qarabağ – CSKA Sofia (0-0), Twente – Ferencváros, Beşiktaş – Midtjylland, Hajduk Split – Pafos, St. Gallen – Benfica, and Dynamo Kyiv – PAOK (2-3). The return legs are scheduled for July 30.
