Mark Lajal reaches semifinal of tennis tournament in Mallorca
Estonia's top-ranked tennis player Mark Lajal has advanced to the semifinal of the ATP Challenger 75 tournament in Mallorca after beating Spain's Alejo Sanchez Quilles in the quarterfinal. He will next face France's Felix Balchou.
Mark Lajal, Estonia's number one tennis player currently ranked 152nd in the world, has reached the semifinal of the ATP Challenger 75 tournament being held at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca.
In the quarterfinal, Lajal defeated Spain's Alejo Sanchez Quilles, ranked 326th in the world, in straight sets 6:2, 6:3. The match lasted one hour and 36 minutes.
On Saturday, Lajal will face French player Felix Balchou, ranked 252nd, in the semifinal. Balchou earned his spot by beating Britain's Billy Harris, ranked 161st, in a match that lasted more than three hours, winning 3:6, 7:6 (7:5), 7:5.
