Mark Wahlberg to open affordable longevity-style gym near Las Vegas
Actor Mark Wahlberg will open the first Municipal Gym near Las Vegas in December, offering diagnostics-based wellness at a much lower price than pricey longevity clubs. He spoke about the plans at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.

US actor Mark Wahlberg said on Thursday at the TechCrunch Disrupt technology conference in San Francisco that he will open the first Municipal Gym in December. The 32,000-square-foot club will be located outside Las Vegas. Wahlberg pitches it as a cheaper alternative to longevity clubs, which charge tens of thousands of dollars a year for similar services.
What the club will offer
The facility will include blood work, epigenetic testing, recovery equipment, compression therapy, cold plunges and a café serving protein muffins. As an example, Wahlberg cited a $99 price for which members get three rounds of blood work and an hour with a doctor to identify their predispositions. Supplements and hormone therapy will also be available.
Competitors charge far more. Fountain Life, co-founded by Tony Robbins, raised $18 million last year, and a full subscription reportedly costs $21,500 a year. The Estate plans $35,000 memberships, while Equinox is preparing a $36,000 longevity add-on.
From apparel to gyms
Municipal began as a casual sportswear brand launched during the Covid-19 pandemic, which Wahlberg admitted was not a good idea. He said he wanted a broader impact on people's lives, including diet, supplements, training and recovery. He described his supplements brand as part of a wider "health and wellness ecosystem."
The actor called his growth strategy "aggressive" but gave no target number of gyms. He said landlords and developers who toured the Las Vegas site offered prime locations on favorable terms.
Earlier experience
In 2019 Wahlberg invested in fitness chain F45 at a $450 million valuation. The company went public in 2021 and was delisted from the NYSE in 2023 after its stock collapsed. He said the main lesson was to work with people who share his approach. He also believes big-box gyms are the better model, as he wants members to spend hours at the club.
Wahlberg is 55 and said his goal is now to feel good rather than simply look good.
