Markuss Strods helps Bohemians snatch comeback win; Finnish Inter holds Turks
Latvian U21 midfielder Markuss Strods started for Bohemians in a 2-1 comeback win over Ballkani in UEFA Conference League qualifying, while Finland's Inter Turku held Istanbul Basaksehir to a 1-1 draw.
Bohemians rally from behind
Irish side Bohemians came from a goal down to beat Kosovo's Ballkani 2-1 at home in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. Latvian U21 international Markuss Strods, 19, started in midfield and was substituted in the 59th minute.
Bohemians conceded a penalty before the 30-minute mark but scored twice in the final 15 minutes to turn the tie around. Englishman Douglas James-Taylor scored and assisted. In the next round, Bohemians will face the loser of the Europa League tie between Besiktas and Midtjylland.
Inter Turku shock Istanbul side
Finnish league runners-up Inter Turku earned a 1-1 draw away at Istanbul Basaksehir. The visitors took the lead in the 16th minute through 19-year-old Nigerian Clinton Jepta. Basaksehir equalized early in the second half via Emin Bajram (56') and dominated thereafter, but Inter held on. The Finnish side will next face the winner of the Vaduz vs Atlètic Club d'Escaldes tie.
Other results
Dinamo Minsk of Belarus came from 2-0 down to beat Neftçi 4-2 away in Baku. Armenian-origin forward Karen Vardanyan scored twice and added an assist. The winner of that tie will face Serbian side Železničar Pančevo or Portuguese club Braga.
