Mārtiņš Mielavs: in running a cultural venue, one must allow for failure

Producer and manager of the cultural venue 'K. K. fon Stricka villa', Mārtiņš Mielavs, shared his experience in organizing cultural events on Latvijas Radio's program 'Monopols'. He pointed out that there are situations that cannot be avoided – 'rakes' that organizers step on repeatedly. However, over time Mielavs has learned to allow for failure, and this does not prevent him from implementing new ideas.
Mielavs emphasized that there is always a risk factor in event organization, and it cannot be completely eliminated. His approach is to allow failure to happen – not as irresponsibility, but as an acknowledgment that not everything is controllable. This attitude helps maintain creative freedom and continue working even if a project fails.
In the interview, he revealed that experience has taught him not to fear failures but to see them as part of the process. This philosophy not only helps him personally but also influences the operations of the entire venue, encouraging experiments and new artistic explorations.
