Mārtiņš Sesks discusses his WRC season after winning a European Championship round in Portugal
Latvian rally driver Mārtiņš Sesks and co-driver Renārs Francis won a round of the European Rally Championship in Portugal last weekend. In a television interview he reviewed his season in the World Rally Championship and spoke about future plans.
Mārtiņš Sesks, regarded as Latvia's best rally driver, appeared on the television programme "Rīta Panorāma" on 27 October. Last weekend he and co-driver Renārs Francis won a round of the European Rally Championship in Portugal. In the interview, the 27-year-old looked back on his season in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and outlined his plans going forward.
The WRC season
This season Sesks took part in six WRC rounds. He competed in Sweden, Portugal, Greece, Estonia, Finland and Italy. The Latvian crew finished 16th in the overall standings.
Their best result came at the Estonian round, where they took seventh place.
Future plans
Sesks also outlined his plans for the future during the programme. The source gives no further detail on them, so it is not known which championships and rounds the driver intends to enter next season.
The win in the European Championship round in Portugal is the second notable event at the end of his season, alongside his WRC starts, in which the Latvian crew contested six rounds in total. A rally crew consists of a driver and a co-driver who helps with navigation, so the result is shared by both.
