While many municipalities across Latvia are closing schools due to shrinking student numbers, Mārupe municipality is facing the opposite trend – its child population continues to grow, creating a need for additional places in both kindergartens and schools.

New kindergarten and expanding school network

A new kindergarten is set to open in Mārupe this autumn, helping to accommodate part of the growing number of children. The municipality is also planning to expand its network of schools to ensure enough places for all local pupils.

Shortage of teachers and support staff

As the number of students keeps rising, finding enough teachers and support staff has become an increasingly pressing issue for the municipality. Ensuring quality education across the expanded network of schools and kindergartens will require attracting new staff to the education sector.
