Five killed in Moscow drone strike as Russia and Ukraine trade attacks
At least five people died when a Ukrainian drone hit a warehouse near Moscow, while Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities killed at least four more. Both sides continue to target each other's infrastructure.
The governor of the Moscow region, Andrei Vorobyov, said an overnight drone attack on a warehouse near Moscow killed at least five people and injured ten. The strike occurred at an industrial site in Novoselki, in the Chekhov district, about 69 kilometres south of the Kremlin. Among the injured, seven are in moderate condition and one is in serious condition.
Ukrainian media reported that the target in Moscow was linked to Wildberries, an online retailer often described as the "Russian Amazon." In recent weeks, Ukraine has carried out strikes on Wildberries facilities, saying they are used to supply the Russian military, a claim Moscow denies. Wildberries did not comment publicly but confirmed that its facility in St Petersburg was hit. Local officials also reported drone attacks in the Tver region.
Russia's Defence Ministry said it intercepted and destroyed 320 drones overnight.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's State Emergency Service said an 89-year-old woman was killed and seven people were injured, including two girls aged two and twelve, in a Russian strike on Mykolaiv. In the city of Sumy, a residential area was hit, killing a woman and two girls aged five and ten, and injuring four others. Two people were wounded in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, and a food warehouse was set on fire in Dnipro.
