A magistrate's court in Moscow's Tagansky district has fined blogger Yekaterina Kuznetsova 30,000 rubles for an administrative offense. The court found her responsible for abuse of media freedom under Part 9 of Article 13.15 of Russia's Code of Administrative Offenses. The ruling was reported by the outlets Ostorozhno, Novosti and Mediazona.

According to Meduza, the penalty relates to a joke in which the blogger presented the 2020 announcement of Telegram being unblocked in Russia as if it were current news. That step has since been effectively rolled back.

The source does not say where or when the joke was published, or whether the ruling can be appealed.
