Bronze Match and Records

In the 2026 World Cup bronze medal match, England defeated France 6-4 (4-0 at halftime). Kylian Mbappé scored two goals, but it wasn't enough to secure victory.

Mbappé has scored 10 goals in this tournament, leading the Golden Boot race. With 22 career World Cup goals, he became the all-time top scorer, surpassing Lionel Messi (21 goals) by one.

Historic Achievements

The Frenchman is the fourth player to reach double-digit goals in a single World Cup. His 10 goals equaled Gerd Müller's 1970 tally. Sándor Kocsis scored 11 in 1954, while the record remains with Just Fontaine (13 goals in 1958).

Mbappé's teammate Michael Olisé provided seven assists in the tournament, a new record surpassing Pelé.

England's Heroes

Jude Bellingham scored his seventh goal of the World Cup in the bronze match, the most by an English player in a single major tournament. Harry Kane, who previously held the record with six goals, did not play in this match.
