McColgan claims London Big Half win on comeback after five months out
Scottish runner Eilish McColgan marked her return to competition with victory at the London Big Half after five months away, despite finishing well outside her best times. Other winners included David Weir in the men's wheelchair race and Eden Rainbow Cooper in the women's event.
Scotland's Eilish McColgan marked her return to racing with a win at the London Big Half, ending a five-month absence from competition. Her winning time was more than three minutes slower than her personal best for the course and further still from her British half-marathon record of 1:05:43.
Men's race
In the men's event, Britain's Jack Rowe fell short of a record fourth consecutive victory, finishing second, 14 seconds behind winner Kadar Omar Abdullahi of Birchfield Harriers, who crossed the line in 1:01:51.
Wheelchair race and women's event
British athlete David Weir successfully defended his title in the men's wheelchair race, taking his fifth win in the event's nine-year history and setting a new course record in the process. The 47-year-old, who retired from Paralympic competition in 2024, improved on his own previous record by 45 seconds, finishing in 46:13.
In the women's race, Eden Rainbow Cooper defended her title, crossing the line in 52:47.
