McInnes trusts his plan to turn Rangers around

Rangers manager Davie McInnes has confirmed the club has recruited 12 players so far this transfer window, with hopes of adding "a couple more" before the deadline next week, while one or two current players are expected to depart.

McInnes acknowledged the squad is not yet complete, particularly following the injury to striker Youssef Chermiti, whose style of play he described as valuable for stretching opposition defences.

A tough start

The manager admitted the season has not begun as hoped, but noted he is far from the first Rangers manager to face a difficult opening period. He said he remains determined to see the job through, insisting that what matters most is the eventual outcome.

Following Thursday's match, McInnes expressed frustration that his team has struggled to settle on a clear identity - whether possession-based, counter-attacking or direct. The former Aberdeen, Hearts, Kilmarnock and St Johnstone boss said his teams have always had a defined identity, and he wants Rangers to become a side that puts more defensive pressure on opponents.

He said the squad has good players in possession but needs to relax more and trust the approach being asked of them, adding that one or two further additions could help the team develop that identity. McInnes also expressed a desire for the team to play an aggressive, full-press style, which would require winning second balls, duels and turnovers to dominate matches.

He concluded by stressing that the squad is full of talented players, noting that talent is a prerequisite simply to join Rangers.
