A wildlife-monitoring camera installed by a hunter in Lithuania's Švenčionys district has captured an unexpected sight – a single frame showing 27 people who had illegally crossed the country's state border.
The camera is normally used to observe forest animals, but this time its footage showed a large group of people instead. After noticing the unusual scene, the hunters immediately alerted officials from the State Border Guard Service.
Swift response from border guards
Border guards responded quickly to the information received, and the people who had illegally crossed the border were detained shortly afterward.
The hunting community noted that the incident demonstrates its vigilance and readiness to report suspicious situations, helping state authorities in the process. Although forest cameras are mainly intended for observing wildlife, in this case the footage proved useful to border guards, allowing them to respond quickly to a possible border violation.
