In this year's Pīters Jurciņš Literature Competition, dedicated to the memory of the writer, Meldra Gailāne has been awarded the best entry in the children's and youth literature category. The competition invited authors to submit works in humor, poetry, and children's and youth literature.

Gailāne's story reunites readers with the beloved Latgalian literary character Meikuleņš (a little rabbit) and his friend Marta. After a hike through a swamp, they get lost and climb a mysterious hill, where they find an old cabin. There they meet a woman and a girl dressed in traditional costumes and soon realize they have traveled to a different time.

The woman, Buorbola, explains that the great swamp holds "Time Gates" that allow movement between eras. Marta and Meikuleņš are mistaken for a missing girl named Made and must live in this time until they find a way back. Other characters, such as Irbe and Skalbs, appear, and the plot revolves around preparations for Leldīne (Easter) celebrations.
