Meļņiks entered the pitch in the 86th minute as a substitute. The hosts took the lead in the eighth minute through Ben Craughan, but Hearts equalized in the 22nd minute via James Wilson, making it 1:1. The decisive goal came in the 68th minute from Owen Eames, securing the win for Falkirk.
Aberdeen wins big without injured Tobers
In another match, Aberdeen secured a convincing 4:0 (1:0) away win over Motherwell. The team was missing Kristers Tobers, who is out with an injury.
Following the results, Aberdeen sits eighth in the 12-team table with seven points from six matches, while Falkirk is tenth with five points.
Hearts came close to history last season
Last season, Hearts came remarkably close to an extraordinary achievement, leading the table for most of the campaign and standing just one match away from becoming the first club other than Celtic or Rangers to win the Scottish title since 1985. However, in the decisive final round, Hearts lost to Celtic, who claimed their 56th championship and 14th title in the last 15 seasons.
Hearts currently sit third in the table with 12 points, while Celtic lead with 18 points and Rangers follow with 13.
