Merko Mājas Seals Time Capsule Into Foundations of Final Building in Magnolijas Project in Šampēteris
Construction company Merko mājas has walled a time capsule into the foundations of the second-phase building of its Magnolijas residential project in Šampēteris. The building will contain 61 apartments, due for completion in summer 2027.
Merko mājas, a company of the Merko construction group, has sealed a time capsule into the foundations of the final-phase building of its Magnolijas residential project in Šampēteris. The building will have 61 apartments, which are planned to be completed in summer 2027.
Construction progress
Jānis Zilgme, chairman of the board at Merko būve, says work is proceeding according to schedule. So far, site preparation and foundation work have been completed: earthworks were carried out, utilities were installed beneath the building and in part of the area, and the foundation slab was poured. The first-floor walls are finished, floor slabs and stairs are partly built, and bricklaying on the second floor has begun. The walls use ceramic blocks from the Latvian manufacturer LODE.
Zilgme says the building frame is expected to be completed in the coming months. Roof structures, window installation and facade insulation will follow. He describes the time capsule as a symbolic moment for the construction team and a step toward finishing the project.
Apartments and prices
The second phase of the project is an A energy efficiency class building. Apartments with two to four rooms and full interior finishing are available for reservation, with living areas from 42.6 to 103.7 m². The building will also include one two-storey townhouse-type apartment with a separate entrance and two spacious four-room apartments with private roof terraces.
Roberts Rēboks, a board member at Merko mājas, says that in the final phase, too, interest is greatest in three- and four-room apartments. These make up most of the homes reserved so far. Apartment prices start at 2,646 euros per square metre.
