Meta Introduces Spaces, Dedicated Workspaces for Its Muse AI Agent
Technology company Meta has launched Spaces, a feature that lets users work on separate projects with its Muse AI agent. It is the second new Muse feature announced within a week.

Meta, the US technology company behind Facebook and Instagram, has rolled out a new feature called Spaces for its Muse artificial intelligence agents. It lets users organize their conversations with the agent by topic, marking another step in the company's push to build out the user experience around these digital assistants.
Muse agents are a new generation of friendly, cartoon-styled AI helpers that Meta introduced recently. According to the article's author, Spaces are essentially breakout conversations centered on a specific subject, although Meta calls them "custom experiences." They sit in the sidebar of the interface where users talk to Muse. Opening a Space brings up a conversation in which the agent works toward a particular goal on the user's behalf.
Examples and integrations
Meta's examples include planning a vacation, collecting recipes for a family event, a holiday gift tracker, a wedding planner and DIY projects. The company says a user describes an idea in chat and Muse builds the space, whether that is a tracker, a planner or a project board.
Spaces can also be linked with third-party apps and information. Meta says that once apps are connected, spaces update themselves in the background, so new concert dates, price changes or savings progress appear without the user asking.
On Friday, Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's founder and CEO, wrote on X that he has been trying out Spaces and has built a BBQ game, an event tracker and a home control dashboard.
Background
Muse agents have received a relatively warm reception in recent months. On Meta's October earnings call, Zuckerberg said the agents had 10 million users in the US and Canada, less than two months after their debut. On Thursday, Meta also announced Muse Voice, which lets users video chat with the agent and give it spoken commands.
Meta competes with other similar AI agents, including OpenAI's dots and SpaceXAI's Grokbot, which were also launched with cartoon-like personas.
