Meta is preparing to launch a new wearable device called the Muse Charm this holiday season, and it will be able to recognize and interact with other Charms in its vicinity. The details come from a Bloomberg report that expands on what the company first showed off during its Meta Connect keynote on Wednesday.
The Muse Charm houses Meta's buzzy Muse AI agent and includes a built-in 5G modem, meaning users won't need a Wi-Fi connection to interact with the assistant. The device will feature a two-inch OLED touchscreen, a new operating system, and a fingerprint sensor that can be used to begin interacting with Muse AI.
Cameras and other features
According to Bloomberg, the Charm will include cameras intended both for taking photos and videos and for giving Muse visual information about its surroundings. The device will also come with built-in speakers, microphones, and a USB-C charging port, along with support for music and video playback. Setup will be handled through Meta's Muse app, available on both iOS and Android.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company plans to launch the device "in time for the holidays in December," though he did not confirm pricing. Sources told Bloomberg that the Charm will likely be priced similarly to a smartwatch, while the company has yet to determine what mobile carrier fees for 5G access will look like.
