Meta plans to bring its Muse AI agent to smart glasses
Meta says it is working on integrating its Muse AI agent into its smart glasses, including the new model unveiled at Meta Connect, alongside a range of other new features from hearing enhancement to updated navigation.
Just weeks after launching its Muse AI agent, Meta announced it is working on bringing it to its smart glasses, including the new glasses unveiled at Meta Connect. Users will be able to activate Muse by saying its name and ask it to help with tasks such as guiding a workout, logging meals, or assisting with shopping.
New accessibility features
The glasses are also gaining several new accessibility tools. One is a Hearing Enhancement feature, which Meta describes as FDA-cleared software for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. It will be available later this year through a Meta One subscription or as a $149 add-on for compatible glasses. Meta AI will also be able to provide more context-rich answers when users ask about what they're looking at, which could help blind and low-vision users better understand their surroundings. A new audio customization feature will let users shift sound between their left and right ears, including routing all audio to one side.
New audio and photo capabilities
Meta is introducing Dolby Atmos Capture, allowing users to record video with 360-degree spatial audio, along with a Dynamic Photo feature that captures multiple frames per shot, with Meta AI suggesting the best one.
Updates for Meta Ray-Ban Display
The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses will get a Hologram feature — a photorealistic digital version of the user's face for calls, with expressions inferred from voice. It will roll out in early access on WhatsApp to US users later this fall. The Display glasses will also add voice-activated real-time cycling and public transit directions in the US and Canada, plus walking directions that reference real-world landmarks like houses or cars instead of street signs. Other upcoming features include on-glasses photo editing, a new Explore app for discovering apps, an improved calendar, and phone notification mirroring.
