Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light remasters getting free next-gen updates this month
Publisher Deep Silver will release free updates for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux this month, adding support for PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series consoles. The next entry in the series, Metro 2039, was also announced.

Publisher Deep Silver is preparing free updates for two of its classic survival shooters, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. These remastered versions of the 2010 and 2013 originals will now gain support for current-generation consoles.
The updates are not full remakes, but they will take advantage of graphical and gameplay features available on modern hardware, including the PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X/S. This includes 4K texture support, the PS5 Pro's PSSR technology, TSR upscaling on Xbox Series X, and spatial audio on both Xbox Series consoles.
The games will also support Adaptive Triggers on DualSense controllers, Impulse Triggers on Xbox controllers, and the power-saving modes offered by both console families. According to Deep Silver, players with a suitable monitor or TV will be able to run either updated game at native 4K and 60 fps, or at upscaled 4K and 120 fps.
PC versions of both Redux titles will also receive improvements, including DLSS upscaling support, spatial audio, and a number of community-reported bug fixes.
Release timing and what's next
The free next-gen updates for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux arrive on PC on October 22 and on consoles on October 29. The series' newest installment, Metro 2039, is set to launch on February 4, 2027.
