League's third-placed Metta crushes closest challenger 9:0
Women's football league side FS Metta thrashed their nearest table rival 9:0, cementing their hold on third place. Riga FC Women and RFS Women continue to dominate the league well ahead of the rest.

FS Metta delivered a dominant performance in the Women's football league, defeating their closest pursuer 9:0 on home ground.
How the match unfolded
The hosts already held a two-goal cushion by the end of the first half, and in the 44th minute Ksenija Šuļga extended the lead to 3:0 with a precise finish. The contest was effectively decided in one spell during the second half, as Metta added four more goals between the 61st and 73rd minutes, completely breaking down their opponents' defense.
Several players shine
During that spell, Keita Zviedre scored twice within three minutes. Anastasija Vainere completed a hat-trick, making a major contribution to the rout. Team captain Amēlija Lipšāne, known as the league's top scorer, opened the scoring for her side.
League standings
The win keeps Metta firmly in third place, though the gap to the league leaders remains substantial. Riga FC Women and RFS Women continue to dominate the women's league, sitting well clear of the rest of the field. The remaining clubs — including FK Iecava/FK Olaine, FK Auda, Rīgas Futbola skola and Rēzekne — are left to fight over the lower positions.
